Michael Howard, the Tory leader, has told how his grandmother died at Auschwitz — and that his aunt and uncle narrowly escaped the same fate.

“While at Auschwitz she had been in a gas chamber three times and for various reasons — once they actually ran out of gas — had got out to tell the tale.”
