Heroic Jew helped gas other Jews

Survivor Helps Sailors Honor Holocaust Remembrance Day

CORONADO, Calif. — More than 160 Sailors attended a Holocaust Remembrance Day event at Naval Air Station North Island here May 3.

The event’s guest speaker was Holocaust survivor David Faber.

Faber delivered graphic accounts of his experiences, from being forced to aid a high-ranking Nazi officer in the gassing of hundreds of Jews to describing the torturous death of his brother by Nazi spies. His tales brought several listeners to tears.

Faber was liberated from the Bergen-Belson camp in Germany in 1945.
